Recalibration
Sometimes the smallest adjustments create the biggest shifts.
🌿 Field Notes From the Wilds
A story from the trail...
This week I had one of those moments that was equal parts hilarious... humbling and a gigantic "AH-HA!"
During my Spanish lesson, my teacher stopped me to correct my pronunciation. As I struggled to make the right sounds, she started laughing.
She said, "You know you've been saying 'a lot of pain' this whole time... right?"
Wait...
What?
Apparently every time I thought I was talking about dollars (dólares), I was actually saying dolores...
...which means a lot of pain.
I've been accidentally creating the very thing I don't want - inviting pain instead of dollars.
The funny part?
I had absolutely no idea.
I wasn't lazy.
I wasn't careless.
I wasn't doing anything wrong.
I simply didn't know.
And that's when it hit me...
How many things are we unknowingly doing in our businesses simply because no one has ever shown us a better way?How often are we unintentionally creating the very thing we don't want because we don't yet have the clarity to see it?
That's the value of having a professional beside you.
Not because you're incapable.
Not because you aren't smart enough.
But because none of us can see what we don't know.
Sometimes one small correction changes everything. Sometimes it changes your pronunciation. Sometimes it changes your business. Sometimes it changes your life.
🧠One Simple Step
One action. Big momentum.
It's the middle of July, which means many businesses are approaching an important milestone. If you're required to file quarterly payroll reports, estimated taxes, sales tax, or other quarterly filings, now is the time to make sure they're don't sneak up on you.
Take 10 minutes today and block dedicated time on your calendar to complete them.
Treat that appointment with the same respect you'd give a meeting with your biggest client.
Your future self will thank you.
Now... if you're reading this thinking,
"Aubrey, I already do that. I have the calendar reminder... I just somehow never seem to get it done."
First of all...
Welcome.Â
If you're neurodivergent, you probably already know this about yourself.
If you're not, you've probably experienced it anyway.
Knowing what to do and actually doing it are two completely different skills.
Most entrepreneurs don't struggle because they don't know what needs to be done.
They struggle because life happens.
A client needs something urgently.
The kids get sick.
A new opportunity pops up.
You open your laptop to work on quarterly filings... and somehow end up reorganizing your Dropbox, answering three emails, and researching the best standing desk on the internet.
(Just me? )
For many of us — especially those of us with ADHD — the challenge isn't knowing what to do. It's creating the conditions that make follow-through easier.
Not because we're lazy.
Not because we don't care.
Because our brains aren't always motivated by importance — they're motivated by interest, urgency, novelty, or avoiding discomfort.
That's why I stopped asking myself,
"Why can't I just do this?"
And started asking,
"What kind of support would make this easier to follow through on?"
That question changed everything.
It's also exactly why I created Fun Finance Fridays.
Sometimes the difference between something sitting on your to-do list for three months and finally getting done isn't more discipline.
It's having a dedicated time, a supportive community, a little accountability, and a room full of other business owners quietly working alongside you.
If that sounds like exactly what you've been missing...
I'll tell you more in the Around the Campfire 🔥   section below.
🎒 Treasures From My Backpack
One resource that make the trail a little easier.
Every month I'll share one resource that I genuinely love — whether it's a book, podcast, app, AI tool, or business resource that's made life a little easier.
This month's find is Keeper.
One of the questions I hear most often from business owners is:
"How much should I be setting aside for taxes?"
Closely followed by...
"Wait... that's a tax write-off?!"Â
Keeper takes a lot of the guesswork out of both.
It helps you:
estimate how much to set aside for taxes throughout the year (instead of being surprised next April)
identify common business expenses that may qualify as tax deductions
understand where your money is going with more confidence
I love any tool that replaces uncertainty with clarity — and this one does exactly that.
Now, it's important to know that Keeper isn't a replacement for a great bookkeeper or CPA. Think of it as a helpful guide that helps you ask better questions and stay more informed along the way.
If tax season tends to sneak up on you or you've ever wondered whether you're setting aside enough, I think you'll find it incredibly helpful.
 Check out Keeper here.

đź’š The Stories We Carry
Exploring our relationship with money.Â
If money were a person, how would you describe your relationship with them?
How do you show up?
How do you talk to them?
How do they make you feel?
Take some time to reflect on these questions. I have found journaling to be a helpful exercise to uncover deeper discoveries in my relationship with money.
Can I let you in on something?
When I started my first business more than 12 years ago, I thought I needed better business strategies or needed to learn how to market myself or write sales copy.
What I discovered instead was that I needed a healthier relationship with money.
I was struck by how much fear, scarcity, and money trauma I was carrying — some of it from my own experiences, and some of it inherited from generations before me.
I had no idea how deeply those stories were influencing my business.
They were quietly shaping how I priced my services.
How I talked about my work.
Whether I asked for the sale.
Whether I invested in myself.
How much revenue I believed I was capable of generating.
And even whether I believed I deserved to be financially successful.
As I began doing that inner work, everything started to shift.
Not overnight.
But steadily.
The work was so transformative that I eventually started coaching women entrepreneurs on their own relationship with money.
Again and again, I watched the same thing happen.
As their relationship with money changed...
The way they led their businesses changed.
The decisions they made changed.
Their confidence grew.
They stopped playing small.
And over time...
Their businesses — and their bank accounts — grew too.
That's one of the reasons Wellhouse Bookkeeping exists today.
Yes, I love clean books, accurate financials, and helping business owners understand their numbers.
But what I love even more is watching someone go from feeling anxious, avoidant, or overwhelmed...
...to feeling calm, confident, and genuinely excited to sit down and review their business.
That's the transformation I'm really after.
I have heaps of stories about the lessons money has taught me over the years (many of them learned the hard way).
If this month's reflection stirred something in you...
If it made you think differently about your relationship with money...
Or if you simply have a story you've never shared before...
I'd be honored to hear it.
Sometimes the first step toward changing our relationship with money is simply having someone who will listen and not judge.
🔥 Around the Campfire
You're invited. Fun Finance Fridays Co-working (2nd & 4th Fridays each month)
If you've ever looked at your calendar and thought,
"I know exactly what I need to do... I just can't seem to make myself do it."
Welcome to the club.Â
One of the biggest myths in business is that successful entrepreneurs are simply more disciplined.
In my experience, that's rarely true.
Most of us already know what needs to happen.
The challenge is creating the time, space, accountability, and support to actually follow through.
That's exactly why I created Fun Finance Fridays.
It's not another webinar. It's not a class. It's not a sales pitch.
It's a dedicated space for business owners to finally tackle those important financial tasks that keep getting pushed to "next week."
Bring your bookkeeping.
Bring your quarterly filings.
Bring your invoices.
Bring your expense categorization.
Bring the thing you've been avoiding.
We'll kick things off with a quick check-in, celebrate a few wins, set our intentions, and then settle into focused co-working time alongside other supportive business owners who are doing the exact same thing.
No pressure.
No judgment.
Just momentum.
By the end of our time together, you'll leave with more than a checked-off to-do list.
You'll leave feeling lighter, more organized, and more confident because you finally gave yourself the gift of taking care of your business.
If your calendar is full of good intentions but follow-through has been harder than you'd like...
I'd love for you to join us around the campfire.

🌱 Permission Slip
Something you no longer have to carry.
This month, give yourself permission to discover you've been doing something "wrong"... without making it mean something is wrong with you.
We all have blind spots.
That's why mentors exist.
That's why teachers exist.
That's why trusted advisors exist.
Growth isn't about never making mistakes.
It's about being willing to recalibrate when you learn something new.
🪧 Trail Marker
A reminder for the journey ahead.
Momentum rarely begins with a giant leap. It begins with one intentional step.
There's a belief I see a lot among business owners.
If something isn't working, we assume the solution has to be big.
A complete rebrand.
A new offer.
A different website.
A massive marketing plan.
An entirely new morning routine.
As if success only comes after a dramatic reinvention.
But honestly...
Who has the time or energy for that?
The entrepreneurs I know aren't lacking ambition.
They're lacking capacity.
They're juggling clients, families, relationships, health, payroll, marketing, and trying to remember if they ever responded to that email from three days ago.
The answer usually isn't doing more.
It's becoming more intentional with what you're already doing.
That's what recalibration is.
It's noticing the unconscious patterns that are quietly shaping your business and asking,
"Is this helping me get where I want to go?"
Maybe it's avoiding your numbers because they make you anxious.
Maybe it's saying yes to every opportunity and stretching yourself thin.
Maybe it's undercharging.
Maybe it's trying to figure everything out on your own.
You don't have to fix all of it today.
Just choose one small adjustment.
One conversation.
One boundary.
One hour on your calendar.
One question you've been avoiding.
One act of courage.
Small shifts have a remarkable way of creating momentum because they change more than your actions.
They change your direction.
And direction — not speed — is what determines where you'll eventually arrive.
🫶🏼 Until Next Time
